You have less than a week to renew domains at current prices.
What are you doing over the next week?
If you have .com domain names in your portfolio, the answer should be “renewing domain names.”
At the end of this month (UTC time), Verisign (NASDAQ: VRSN) will increase the wholesale price of .com domains by 7% (62 cents) to $9.59. Low-cost registrars will pass this cost along to consumers through their own price increases, meaning the days of sub-$10 domain renewals are nearly behind us.
I’ve spent recent months preparing by renewing my domain names in advance. With over 2,000 names in my portfolio, it has saved me well over $1,000.
Until August 31, you can renew your domains for the same price for up to 10 years. Verisign is likely to continue raising prices in the future; it is permitted to increase wholesale prices to $10.26 in 2024 before a two-year price freeze goes into effect.
