Swedish Internet Foundation acquires up to 20% of iQ.global
Group that manages .se invests makes a cybersecurity investment.
Swedish Internet Foundation, the group that runs Sweden’s .se top level domain, has invested in domain name company iQ.global. According to a press release on its site, the foundation’s investment is for “up to 20 percent” of the company. Other transaction details were not disclosed.
iQ.global is a domain name technology and consulting company focused primarily on analytics and security for registrars and registries. For example, registries use its services to root out potentially problematic domain names.
Swedish Internet Foundation, a public-benefit organization, made its investment to help improve the security of the internet. In a release, CEO Carl Piva said:
The Swedish Internet Foundation works for an open Internet and we protect freedom of speech. At the same time it is important that there are effective tools to counter Internet-related crime. The investment in IQ Global AS is one of the ways we contribute to that work.
