.Linde (and maybe .Sky) dot-brands head to the scrapyard

More top level domains are canceled.

At least one more dot-brand domain name is being scrapped.

Today, ICANN published a notice of termination from Linde for .linde. Linde is a global industrial gases and engineering company.

The company activated several .linde second level domains, including shop.linde, easygas.linde and sa.linde. None of these still resolve.

ICANN’s letter to Linde (pdf) stating a preliminary determination not to transfer the domain is oddly dated tomorrow, December 15.

But that’s only part of it —  the filename is for Sky, and the notice on ICANN’s website that links to the letter says that Sky International AG is canceling .sky. It would seem that both .sky and .linde are being terminated, but ICANN uploaded the wrong documents. (I reached out to ICANN for clarification).

A cancellation of .sky is somewhat. The company has created and still maintains many active domains on .sky, including creative.sky, skygroup.sky, productionservices.sky and skyzero.sky. Plus, it’s a generic domain that I would imagine a couple of TLD operators would like to add to their collection.
