DigiCert acquires DNS Made Easy

Major DNS company acquired.

DigiCert, an online security company with a focus on public key infrastructure, announced today that it has acquired DNS Made Easy.

DNS Made Easy is a managed DNS platform that, according to the release, has grown by double digits over the past few years. Its customer list includes Twilio, Sling, Under Armour and, perhaps biggest of all the names, Domain Name Wire.

Deepika Chauhan, Executive Vice President at DigiCert, explained the rationale for the acquisition:

The combination of core web services — enhanced DNS management and DigiCert’s industry-leading certificate lifecycle management — provides a compelling solution to better service our customers and simplify certificate renewal.

While DNS Made Easy works well technically, its user interface looks like something from the 90s. It would be nice if it underwent an overhaul as part of the acquisition.
