Company sues to overturn multitrack.com UDRP decision
The UDRP decision was the latest questionable determination by panelist Aaron Newell.
Christian Copyright Licensing International, LLC has filed a lawsuit (pdf) against Multitracks.com LLC to halt the transfer of its domain name multitrack.com.
Multitracks.com LLC filed a cybersquatting dispute with National Arbitration Forum in November 2022 to get the domain.
Multitracks is a descriptive term in the music industry. Despite this, panelist Aaron Newell ordered the domain transferred in a decision handed down last month.
As Internet Commerce Association general counsel Zak Muscovitch noted, this is the third time Newell has ordered a seemingly generic domain transferred. He previously ordered the transfers of LiveVideo.com and TampaWaterTaxi.com.
This case represents the second time in six months that a Respondent has sued to overturn one of Newell’s decisions.
Newell is a partner with JA Kemp, an intellectual property law firm.
