.Art introduces easier way to connects its domains to ENS

Registry seeks to capitalize on NFT art.

Just about any “regular” second level domain name, such as dnw.com, can be connected to Ethereum Name Service (ENS). But it’s a complicated process.

The .art registry announced new features this week to make it easier for .art domain owners to connect their domains to ENS and to ensure that only owners of the “real” DNS .art domain can control the matching ENS .art domain.

Registrants of .art domain names can connect them to ENS using a TXT record in a much simpler process than connecting most other top level domains.

Additionally, the registry will allow minting of ENS .art domains for unregistered regular .art domains. But these will be collision-proof, meaning that only the person who controls the ENS domain can control the DNS domain and vice versa.

ENS is great for wallet addresses but bad for running websites. .Art’s domains on the DNS are good for running websites but not great for wallet addresses. So this initiative seeks to marry the two in a more straightforward way than ENS’s standard implementation.

.Art is one of the better names for web3 because of NFT art, so it makes sense that the registry is pursuing this.
